What's the schedule like?
Typically, training starts at 0800 daily and we normally do 8-10 hour days or until it’s a good time to call it a day. This is a little flexible, based on the course content for the day, the weather, and participant engagement. Some schedules may be adapted to help with commutes, but this will be communicated to the participant prior to any changes.
Where will we be each day?
For Industrial courses, training will be based out of the facility booked for the entirety of the course. For Tactical courses, it’s hard to say at the moment, as the schedule is a little fluid based on when we can get certain venues. Your instructors will always plan the following day with you so you can plan your commute and timings with other engagements.
What should I wear?
Dress for the weather, as we’ll be outside for most of the course, unless it’s being privately hosted indoors. Long pants and closed-toed shoes are required, in addition to regular PPE when on rope. For Tactical courses, most participants wear their team’s TDU, but it is not required.
What about accommodations?
We strive to keep our course participant to instructor ratio low. We recommend finding a hotel or rental near the base venue to minimize potential traffic disruptions. T’NT has a preferred rate at Sandman Hotel locations across the country. Contact us to find out how to get the discounted rate. However, please don’t make any non-refundable bookings before the course is confirmed 45 days before the start date.
How many and who are the instructors?
We try to use a minimum of two instructors for every course to ensure the highest quality of training for our participants. T’NT instructors are assigned to courses based on their experience and availability. We have a very small pool of instructors as we insist on only sending you professional and highly trained instructors. Don’t worry – you’re not getting just any warm body – you’ll be getting one of the best!
How many participants are in the course?
Our rescue courses will typically accommodate up to 12-14 participants and our tactical courses will be up to 8-10 participants. Some courses and specialty workshops will work a little outside of these numbers, but our participant to instructor ratio will usually be 6 or less.
How do I register?
Check out our Upcoming Courses (linked below) to see what courses have availability. Please note some courses have prerequisites participants must meet, and registrations may be cancelled if registrants are unable to provide proof of prerequisites.
Can my company get a customer course created?
Certainly! At T’NT we provide ourselves in offering solutions, and if one of our scheduled courses doesn’t work for your team, we can collaborate to find an alternative that would work better. Simply contact our Training Coordinator to discuss what you’re looking for and we’d be happy to help!
Are CMC School Courses IFSAC or Pro Board Certified?
No. Our T’NT or CMC workshops are not IFSAC or Pro Board Certified.
What's better, an NFPA Course or a custom course?
NFPA courses have Job Performance Requirements outlined. In the real world, that means it lists skills the participant must be able to do proficiently by the end of the course. The advantage to following this standard is the training carries across to different organizations around the continent. If you have an “NFPA Rope Rescue, Operations” certificate, an organization on the east coast will have a pretty good sense of what skill level you’re at.
The downside to NFPA is that you need to spend time becoming proficient on the listed skills. For example, you need to train in slope rescue as part of the Operations level. If your site doesn’t have any legitimate slope risks, you may see this as time wasted on a non-related skill. With a custom course, we spend as little or as much time on skills that matter to you. That means it can be a 1-day session, or a 5-day session… whatever you need to meet your objectives!
