Tactical Rope Instructor

Course Information

Duration: 5 Days [40 hours] 
Pre-Requisites: T’NT TRO, or equivalents acceptable by T’NT.

Certification: A certificate will be issued to each student upon successful completion of the program.
Evaluation: Each student will be evaluated and will be required to pass a practical skills test.

Course Description

The TRI course is an advanced-level course for tactical team members who have successfully completed TRO or an equivalent course. TRI takes a deeper dive into previously learned principles to give the Rappel Master a better understanding of the concepts and limitations applied to systems. Participants will further develop skills in advanced and complex rigging techniques while also gaining a more thorough understanding of topics they may be required to teach to other team members. Members who successfully complete TRI should be capable of coordinating their agency’s high angle program.

  • Tactical Insertion and Evaluation/Recertification Scenarios  
  • Advanced Mechanical Advantage Systems [Complex, Compound, T-Method]
  • Artificial High Directionals [Bipods, Easel Leg Tripods]
  • Packaging [Victim harness and hasty harness] 
  • Participant-Led Scenarios [Instructor Development] 
  • Team Management [Team Leader Development] 
  • Latest development on industry trends, techniques, and equipment 

BY THE END OF THIS TRAINING, PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO:

  • Anchor with un-conventional anchors 
  • Access aerial trespassers/EDPs 
  • Utilize non-conventional rescue systems 
  • Develop and coordinate agency’s high angle program and SOPs 
  • Inspect and maintain unit’s personal protective equipment & rescue equipment  
  • Instruct tactical members in their agency’s BTOC and TRO equivalency courses 

Prerequisites

Pre-Requisites: T’NT TRO, or approved equivalent

This course is designed for experienced members who are proficient in tactical rope skills. An assumption is made that participants are comfortable building systems and working on rope. If you are uncertain about your abilities, please contact T’NT to discuss the course in more detail.
