Tactical Structure Climbing
Course Information
Duration: 5 Days [40 hours]
Pre-Requisites: T’NT TRI, or equivalents acceptable by T’NT. If a participant has not taken an instructor level course with T’NT, they must have taken an equivalent course AND be lead belay tested at a climbing gym
Certification: A certificate will be issued to each student upon successful completion of the program
Evaluation: Each student will be evaluated and will be required to pass a practical skills test.
Course Description
The Tactical Structure Climbing course is specifically designed for Tactical Unit members who require advanced climbing skills for urban and structural environments. The course combines theoretical knowledge with hands-on practical training to ensure members are prepared for a variety of high-risk scenarios.

- Theory [Lead Climbing, Fall Factors]
- Climbing Technique [Leading, Top Rope Belay, Transferring to rappel]
- Placing protection [Clipping Technique, Pro selection and placement]
- Horizontal Aid Climbing
BY THE END OF THIS TRAINING, PARTICIPANTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO:
- Anchor with un-conventional anchors
- Access aerial trespassers/EDPs
- Belay from ground and top rope
- Lead climb and set protection
- Utilize non-conventional rescue systems
Prerequisites
T’NT TRI, or approved equivalent*
This course is ideal for Tactical teams that are exposed to elevated structures such as radio towers and bridges. As the course focuses on more advanced skills such as lead climbing, it’s imperative the participant is comfortable and confident with basic skills.
The tables below list key concepts and skills a TSC Course Attendee must be proficient with before the first day of class. While we do try to offer time to refresh some skills, there is an expectation that participants are comfortable with the requirements below.
